13 September 2011 CropScape - Cropland Data Layer Project Team won the 63rd Annual Secretary's Honor Awards of U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Secretary's Annual Honor Awards are the most prestigious awards presented by USDA. The purpose of Honor Awards is to provide high-level recognition to people who have made outstanding contributions to USDA's mission. The team is composed of staff from Center for Spatial Infomration Science and Systems (CSISS) and National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Team members from CSISS include Prof. Liping Di, Dr. Weiguo Han, Dr. Meixia Deng, Dr. Genong Yu, Mr. Ali Yagci, and Ms. Chunming Peng. This esteemed accomplishment testifies the hard work and success of the team.

10 April, 2013 Dr. Zhongxin Chen, a Research Professor at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), gave a presentation about the agricultural monitoring with remote sensing, global change and food security. He is the Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Agri-Informatics of the Ministry of Agriculture of China (MOA). He is also affiliated to the Remote Sensing Application Center of MOA and Department of Agricultural Application, National Remote Sensing Center of China.
31 January, 2013 The 2012 cropland data layer (CDL) product for the Continental United States (CONUS) is released in CropScape.
17-19 April 2012 CSISS/GMU has two presentations during HDF-EOS Workshop XV: "Access HDF-EOS data with OGC Web Coverage Service - Earth Observation Application Profile" by Dr. Yuanzheng Shao and "Web-based On-demand Global NDVI Data Services" by Dr. Dayong Shen.
21 Feb. 2012 Prof. Jianqiang Ren from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, visited CSISS, and gave a presentation.
21 Feb. 2012 Prof. Yan Lei, director of Head of Spatial Information Integration & Its Applications Beijing Key Laboratory, from the RS & GIS Institute of Peking University, visited CSISS, and gave a presentation.
19 Sep. 2010 Mr. Wei Liu gave a presentation on his research progress, which is a summary of his research and study conducted at CSISS. He is a PHD student in Cartography and Geographic Information Engineering in the School of Environment and Spatial Informatics, China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing, China. He is also co-supervised by Prof. Liping Di. The presented R&D results will be the essential components of his dissertation to be fully developed.

Prof. Jinjun Ji from the Institute of Atmosphere Physics, Chinese Academy of Science, visited CSISS, and gave a presentation.
30 July 2010 Mr. Zeqiang Chen, a Ph.D. student of Professor Liping Di, gave a presentation about his work on the implementation of video change detection Web Processing Service in the OWS-7 (OGC testbed phase 7).
25-30 July 2010 CSISS/GMU has two presentations during this symposium: "Persistent WCS and CSW services of GOES data for GEOSS" and "Enhancing Remote Sensing Education with GeoBrain Cyberinfrastructure". Dr. Meixia Deng co-chaired two sessions with Dr. Hampapuram Ramaprian: FR2.L03 GIS Applications and FRP2.PF Geographic Information Science: Applications.

Datasets Through DEM Explorer" (Weiguo Han, Liping Di, Peisheng Zhao, Xiaoyan Li, Yuanzheng Shao, Meixia Deng).
Dr. Weiguo Han attented this meeting. The project titled Sharing and Analyzing DEM Datasets Through DEM Explorer from CSISS won $5,000 award
in Annual Mini-grant competition from ESIP FUNding Friday.
