2013


2013 The Second Internation Conference on Agro-Geoinformatics - Winner of Best student paper competition
Lingjun Kang from CSISS won the second Prize with the paper "Study of the NDVI-precipitation correlation stratified by crop type and soil permeability". Co-authors include Liping Di, Yuanzheng Shao, Genong Yu, Bei Zhang and Ranjay Shrestha.


2013 EarthServer Innovation Award
The 2013 EarthServer Innovation Award goes to the CSISS team: Chunming Peng, Lingjun Kang, Ranjay Shrestha and Ziheng Sun. The submission is MODIS GRASS WCPS (MOGRAW), supervised by Prof. Liping Di and Yuanzheng Shao.

2012 The First Internation Conference on Agro-Geoinformatics - Winner of Best student paper competition
Ranjay Shrestha from CSISS won the student paper competition with the paper "Investigating Temperature Variability in the Trinidad Island Due to Urban Growth". Co-author includes Liping Di.

The 63rd Annual Secretary's Honor Awards of U. S. Department of Agriculture
CropScape - Cropland Data Layer Project Team won the 63rd Annual Secretary's Honor Awards of U. S. Department of Agriculture. Team members from CSISS include Liping Di, Weiguo Han, Meixia Deng, Genong Yu, Ali Yagci, and Chunming Peng.

2010 ESIP Federation Summer Meeting - Winner of Annual Mini-grant Competition
The CSISS project "Sharing and Analyzing DEM Datasets Through DEM Explorer" (Weiguo Han, Liping Di, Peisheng Zhao, Xiaoyan Li, Yuanzheng Shao, Meixia Deng) won the $5,000 award in Annual Mini-grant competition.

Dr. Yuqi Bai received this award from NASA, in recognition of his valuable contribution and outstanding support to the Advanced Information Systems Technology (AIST) program and the NASA Earth Science Technology Office.

Winner of the 2004 Carbon Cup Open Geospatial Design Competition

"The GMU LAITS submission combined an imaginative use of the CarbonTools Toolkit with a high level of sophistication, usability and interoperability," said Nuke Goldstein, Founder of The Carbon Project. "We were also impressed by LAITS's combination of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) WMS, WFS and the new Catalog Services Specification. The LAITS architecture also demonstrated a truly innovative application which not only brought together multiple OGC Specifications and CarbonTools, but also integrated with the Google search engine."
